Winning $200K CT Lottery Powerball Ticket Sold At Shop In CT

One lucky shopper in Connecticut walked into an area smoke shop and walked out with a winning $200,000 Powerball ticket.

In New Haven County, West Haven resident Luis Carrasquillo cashed in his winning Powerball prize on Friday, Oct. 29 on a ticket that was sold at Tobacco Plus on Platt Avenue in West Haven.

According to CT Lottery, “when a winning scratch ticket is validated through a Lottery Retailer's terminal, the remaining number of unclaimed prizes for that prize level is automatically updated reflecting one less prize. Until the individual or group presents their winning ticket for claim at CT Lottery Headquarters, the identity of a winner is unknown.”

Carrasquillo wasn't the only one feeling lucky. Other recent winners of prizes topping $10,000, according to CT Lotto include:

On Thursday, Oct. 28, a winning $10,000 "10X Cash 15th Edition" ticket that was sold to a Stratford resident at the Convenience Gas of Darien was cashed in;
On Oct. 29, a winning $20,000 "20X Cash 7th Edition" ticket that was sold to a New Milford resident at the New Milford Citgo was cashed in;
On Oct. 29, Orlando, Florida resident Priscilla Ortega won $25,000 playing "Multiplier Mania" on a ticket sold at Krauszers Food Store in West Haven;
On Oct. 29, New Britain resident Janusz Koniczek won $10,000 playing "30X Cash 8th Edition" on a ticket sold at Citgo in New Britain;
On Oct. 29, Danielson resident James Benzie won $10,000 playing "10X Cash 15th Edition" on a ticket sold at the Dayville Quick Mart in Dayville;
On Monday, Nov. 1, Norwalk resident Byron Mendez won $50,000 playing "Super Cashword 22" on a ticket sold at the J&J Grocery and Deli in Bridgeport;
On Nov. 1, New Haven resident Joshua Trevera won $10,000 playing "30X Cash 8th Edition" on a ticket sold at One Stop Convenience in Hamden;
On Nov. 1, Derby resident Ramila Vaghela won $10,000 playing "10X Cash 15th Edition" on a ticket sold at Stop & Shop in Ansonia;
On Nov. 1, a winning $10,000 "10X Cash 15th Edition" ticket that was sold to a New Britain resident at Valley Wines in Farmington was cashed in;
On Nov. 1, Southington resident Lorraine Allan won $25,000 playing "Cashword 29" on a ticket sold at Neighborhood Foodmart in Waterbury;
On Nov. 1, a winning $10,000 "10X Cash 15th Edition" ticket that was sold to a Newington resident at Stop & Shop in New Britain was cashed in;
On Nov. 1, New Britain resident Fatima Lara Arias won $10,208 playing "PLAY4 DAY" on a ticket sold at New Britain Xpressmart;
On Nov. 1, a winning $100,000 "CASH5" ticket that was sold to a Hamden resident at Sams Food Store in Hamden was cashed in;
On Nov. 1, Danbury resident Jose Espinal Nunez won $10,000 playing "20X Cash 7th Edition" on a ticket sold at Papi's Liquor in Danbury;
On Tuesday, Nov. 2, a winning $10,000 "$100,000 Cashword 11" ticket that was sold to a Stamford resident at Luceritos Family Grocery in Stamford was cashed in.
